Are you ready to help build and operate a DNS resolution service for 100 million users?

⭐How are we going to achieve this?

A Whalebone-led consortium was awarded an EU-commision funded project for building a pan-european DNS infrastructure in order to improve the Internet experience and help secure EU citizens. The plan is to onboard 100 Million everyday people by offering a cloud-based environment while at the same time cooperating with local service providers in order to bring the service as close to the users as possible and ensure the best possible user experience. We’re looking for a seasoned and innovative Site Reliability Engineer for DNS4EU to help shape and implement this ambitious project.

🔍What will you do

  • 30% Configure and maintain the DNS4EU cloud locations - understand their specifics, propose changes and improvements to enhance user experience and reachability
  • 30% Troubleshoot problems - monitor the service availability, proactively identify issues, improve the tooling and operations
  • 30% identify new cooperation opportunities. Collaborate with our Development, Product and Threat Intelligence teams as well as industry experts on DNS.
  • 10% Have a product related idea you would like to try out? Do you love automation or writing technical documentation? Let’s do it.

Job requirements

🚀 Requirements

  • Linux Expertise: Advanced administrator-level knowledge of Linux (tcpdump, dig, curl).
  • Network Administration: Strong skills in routing, switching, and firewalls (ping, mtr, traceroute).
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Confidence in sharing complex ideas clearly and effectively, especially in English.
  • English Proficiency: Advanced level for effective communication.
  • Traveling: Approximately twice per quarter (conferences and other industry events).

🎯Nice to have

  • Internet Protocols Experience: 3-4+ years working with internet protocols (hands-on experience with BGP, HTTP, TLS or DNS).

  • Experience with large-scale DNS (Resolvers or Authoritative) in deployment and operation

  • Experience with telecommunications providers networks and ISP networks

  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes

  • Experience with Monitoring tools such as Grafana, Zabbix or similar

  • Network security and protection against malware
